CITY OF MIAMI BEACH SIGNS WHOLE FOODS MARKET SOUTH BEACH AS BREAKFAST SPONSOR OF SLEEPLESS NIGHT Miami Beach, FL -- The City of Miami Beach Department of Tourism and Cultural Development is very pleased to announce that Whole Foods Market South Beach is the official Breakfast Sponsor of SLEEPLESS NIGHT 2009, the free, 13-hour, dusk-til-dawn, citywide celebration of the arts launching November 7 at 6:00 p.m.. “We’re very excited to partner with the City of Miami Beach for this wonderful community event,” said Bridget Hobart, Marketing Specialist for Whole Foods Market South Beach. “Whole Foods Market has a thirty-year history of community involvement, and Sleepless Night is a perfect fit for us.” “We’re thrilled to have Whole Foods Market on board, “ said Max Sklar, the City’s Director of Tourism and Cultural Development. “It’s so heartening to see the local business community embrace this event. And after a Sleepless Night, what could be better than a healthy Whole Foods Market breakfast ?” Whole Foods Market South Beach will be serving a complimentary continental breakfast near the stages on Ocean Drive at 6:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Whole Foods Market South Beach joins Audi of America, the John L. and James S. Knight Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Ocean Drive Association, the Miami Beach Visitors and Convention Authority, the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs and the Florida Arts Council, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, Comcast and Classical South Florida 89.7 FM, among others, to provide the sponsorship necessary to produce this free,13-hour long event. Sleepless Night is a sundown-to-sunrise, free arts celebration. It is produced by the City of Miami Beach Department of Tourism and Cultural Development and Cultural Arts Council in collaboration with every cultural organization in the city, together with private businesses and individuals. It offers free museum admissions, indoor and outdoor art installations and performances, architectural tours, dance (and dancing,) theater, music, film, slam poetry, fashion shows, acrobatics, comedy and other cultural offerings, all presented without admission charge at over 80 different venues spread throughout the city and the 13-hour night. Free shuttle buses with onboard arts programming connect the various zones of activity and remote parking for the duration of the event. The last Sleepless Night (2007) presented more than 130 arts and entertainment events to over 100,000 residents and visitors of all ages. “It was the best multi-genre arts event We are committed to providing excellent public service and safety to all who live, work and play in our vibrant, tropical, historic community.
