WWW.MASJIDALFURQAAN.ORG CHRONICLING THE DEVELOPMENT OF MASJID AL-FURQAAN Masjid al-Furqaan is an Islamic Center Based in North Minneapolis. It is a community of brothers and sisters who have come together to establish an Islamic Community deeply rooted in the Qurʾān and the Sunnah. The Masjid's origins can be traced back to the Bilāl Learning Center, which was established to provide Islamic education while cultivating the development of the community with specific emphasis placed on the youth.

The Bilāl Learning Center was located in the small mini mall on the corner of Lake St. and Cedar Avenue. It functioned as a place where Qurʾānic lessons were administered for the children of the community. Weekly lessons were also taught for the youth and adults who wished to further increase themselves in Islamic knowledge.

Many of the classes taught at the center focused upon strengthening the basic foundations of the religion through the study of the subjects of Tawhīd and ʿAqīdah. The books that were taught by some of the brothers include:

 Al-Mabādī al-Mufīdah (Basic Elementary Principles in Fiqh, Tawhīd and ʿAqīdah) by Shaykh Yaḥyá al-Ḥajūrī.  Al-Usūl us-Sittah (Six Fundemental Principles) by Shaykh Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdul-Wahhāb.  Al-Qawāʿid al-ʿArbʿa (Four Principles) also by Shaykh Muḥammad ibn ʿAbdul-Wahhāb.  Talkhīs Ṣifatus-Salāḥ an-Nabī (Abridgement of the book ‘The Prophet’s Prayer Described’) by Shaykh Muḥammad Nāṣir ud-Dīn al-Albānī as well as many other books.

These classes continued on through the summer of 2008, in which a property was finally acquired for the brothers and sisters to establish a Masjid.

WWW.MASJIDALFURQAAN.ORG Masjid al-Furqaan completed the transition from a learning center to a fully-functional Masjid when a group of brothers acquired a property on the north side of Minneapolis. The Masjid is located above a Grocery Store and after a series of renovations; the Masjid was then opened to the people on the first day of Ramadan in the year 2008. During Ramadan, the Masjid sponsored regular tarāwīḥ prayers and provided fast breaking iftār meals for the people of the community.

The Masjid received a very warm reception from the community in North Minneapolis and by the permission of Allah, weekly classes that began in the Bilāl Center continued in Masjid al-Fuqaan.

The Masjid's Administration, aided by the support of its growing community, were able to continue the final phases of construction and renovation while continuing to establishing the classes on a weekly basis. During the last weekend of March, the community was able to put together a small educational seminar which involved working closely with communities in both Atlanta, GA and Columbus, OH. The small seminar was a success and very beneficial.

Currently, the Masjid maintains a consistent schedule of classes that compliment a Qurʾānic weekend school that allows children of all ages to benefit every weekend. Masjid al-Furqaan is a diverse community of brothers and sisters of different ethnic backgrounds who have come together to learn and practice the religion of Allah based upon the Qurʾān and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Salaf of this great Muslim nation.
