Dear Parents, • Welcome to Term 3. This is again going to be a busy term starting with parent teacher interviews in week 2. Please book your interview time on-line. There is a link off the school website http://www.nelsoncentral.school.nz/ This week there will also be important notices about our Museum Visit and an information evening about camp. • Please read the homework sheet carefully with your child and ensure that your children understand the requirements. This should stop them having to complete it at lunch and morning tea times! • This term ALL homework should be done in the one homework book to be returned to school each Friday. I would like them to focus on presentation and neatness and will provide some models at school to ensure the children are aware of expectations. • Please return last term’s Board of Trustee’s survey forms to school asap. • Last term the children brought home a list of stationery they were missing. Please fill these gaps as soon as possible. Many also need homework books. Sue 4. Inquiry Write 5 effective questions about children’s rights in the world. Remember that to be an effective question each question must use at least one of the 7 servants and each question must have the necessary vocabulary (words) so it can be used to find information an the internet and in an interview.

.

1. BASIC FACTS and TIMES TABLES Learn 2 basic facts and x tables you got wrong every night so your score improves.

2. Read every night for at least 10 minutes. 3. SPELLING 1. Spelling. Learn your spelling for our spelling test on Friday. 2. Each night choose 2 or 3 of your spelling words and write an interesting sentence for each word in YOUR HOMEWORK BOOK. Date each days work. By Friday you should have a minimum of 6 good sentences with Capital letters, full stops and careful spelling.

Quality homework This term I am looking for Quality homework. Quality homework is work that: • is written neatly in your homework book • each section is ruled off (with a ruler) and has a neat heading • Is written in HB pencil and might have coloured pencil for illustrations and/or headings.
