Wednesday 27 August @ Hammonds Pond ST. MARGARET MARY’S 1-1 CARLISLE CITY City's very young side fought a very hard 1-1 draw with their much more experienced opponents. Of the 16 players available, 12 were under 20 with 9 of the starting 11 in their teens. Physically St Margaret Mary's were the stronger throughout and won the majority of "50-50" balls taking the lead in 15 minutes with an excellent strike from outside the box. The young City team had to dig deep and in a very even contest it took one of the older heads, Ollie Driver to equalise shortly after the half time break. The rest of the match was evenly contested with both sides having good opportunities to win. City's young goalkeeper Tom Newton looking very strong and a draw was a fair result. All the young players worked hard and with more experience at this level and a bit more coaching will improve. City Squad:Tom Newton (Goalkeeper) Matty Green, Richie Young, Chris Rush, Warren Douglas John Simpson, Callum Johnston, Carl Murphy, Tom McGarry Robin Ward, Ollie Driver Subs: David Campbell (60 mts for Callum Johnston) Neil Jeffreys (68 mts for John Simpson) Simon Weedall (80 mts for Matty Green) Nickie Little (not used) Josh Harding (not used)
