Vietnam is a well-known country located in Southest Asia with a wide variety of culture and people. Hence, the Vietnamese have many traits that leave tourists with both good and bad impressions. In my belief, there are some main characteristics that are commonly shared among the Vietnamese community. Firstly, Vietnamese people are very hospitable. All over Vietnam, you can experience the warmth and friendliness of Vietnamese people. They can seem to be timid at first, but when you have gotten quite attached to them, they are very friendly, rather sweet even. Most people in Vietnam will be willing to help tourists with almost everthing. They try to do their best in order to help people from other countries feel just like home. Also, another common trait of Vietnamese people is modesty. When receiving praise for an achivement or something else, they usually refuse it and would consider that achivement was for the help of someone else. Secondly, Vietnamese people are well-known for being extremely hard-working. Most Vietnamese work really hard both in education and business. The main reason for that, in my opinion, is since Vietnam used to be really poor, especially in the war time, Vietnamese people had to work extra hard for a living. Nowadays, despite the rapid improvements in the quality of life in Vietnam, Vietnamese people are still as hard-working as before. Last but not least, being patriotic is also a personality that most Vietnamese have. Vietnamese people have great national pride. It could be both advantageous as well as disadvantageous - a “mixed blessing’’. For example, Vietnamese people won the war with America was because how large their love for this country was. And how Vietnam won the AFF Cup Championship in 2018 was partly because of Vietnamese people’s love for their country too. However, in other situations, this personality could go overboard and cause irreversible consequences, possibly damage Vietnam’s reputation.
In conclusion, these are only few of the many main features of the Vietnamese character. Although there might be changes over time, these personality traits will always be what make a Vietnamese proud.
