University of Connecticut Increased the School’s endowment from just over $1 million (1992) to over $23 million in commitments. In the process, helped create four endowed centers and nine endowed chairs/professorships. Secured funding for a new business school facility in Storrs (dedicated October 2001) and helped plan its design. Received $22.5 million for the building from UConn 2000 and raised an additional $4.5 million plus from alumni and friends.
3 Obtained funding and refunding (twice) from the U.S. Department of Education for the Center for International Business Education and Research (CIBER), one of only thirty such centers nationwide. Worked with School’s Operations and Information Management Department (OPIM) to establish an unprecedented intellectual partnership with GE Capital (edgelab) that provides unique experiential learning opportunities for students, research for faculty and GE Capital professionals, and state-of-the-art facilities for School and UConn at our Stamford location. The School’s strong relationship with GE resulted in their making an investment (donation) to UConn totaling $11 million. Worked with the University of Connecticut Foundation and the School’s Finance Department to establish $1 million Student Managed Investment Fund at the undergraduate and MBA levels. Helped establish partnerships with other Connecticut Fortune 500 companies, e.g., Aetna/ING, The Hartford, Pratt and Whitney, Travelers. Helped establish School executive development network and oversee four MBA programs operated at regional campuses as profit centers. Received two grants from GE Fund (totaling over $1 million) to establish Master of Science in Technology Management (MSTM), to create an SBA Diversity Network, and to develop SBA elearning capability. Created highly successful Family Business Program. Integrated Connecticut Small Business Development Center into School. Established strong linkages with other UConn academic units (e.g., Engineering, College of Liberal Arts, Medical School), including establishment of business minor. Changed and improved School’s managerial and operational processes. Established Schoolwide strategic planning processes and created vision statement. Oversaw revision, updating and reengineering of School’s academic programs at all degree levels, i.e., BS, MBA, MS, PhD. Obtained business and accountancy reaccredidation from AACSB.
