(1) Development Manager ( Engineering & Development ) Sharq Sohar Steel Rolling Mills LLC Sohar, Sultanate of Oman. June’07 to present. A hot rolling mill for rolling rebars from size 8mm to 32mm, having a capacity 250,000 tpa. Billets from size 100 to 120 mm are used to roll out rebars as per BS and other international grades. My function is as the head of engineering and development section of the plant, import mill spares, provide the latest machines and mill components for improving mill production and execute new projects for our sister concerns. (2) Manager (Hydraulics) Corporate Ispat Alloys Ltd. Siltara, Raipur June’06 – May’07 An integrated hot strip mill to produce 0.225 mil. tons of 1.2 to 6.2 mm x 450 mm wide steel strips. This plant has two sections SMS and Rolling Mill. SMS has four hydraulic power packs and related 63 nos cylinders, 4 nos valve stands and 2 hydraulic motors. The entire plant has nine hydraulic power packs for AGC, LRF, CCM, EAF, Rolling Mill & Reheating Furnace with 363 nos cylinders 12 nos valve stands and 2 nos motors. Power packs functions are for automatic hydraulic gauge control with Moog Valves, roll balancing, roll changing, spindle balancing and locking, down coiler pusher, mandrel, coil handling, reheating furnace charging discharging & door operation, continuous casting machine, LRF tundish turret rotation and lift. Plant has also 5 nos centralized grease line system and pneumatic system comprising of 472 cfm compressor for mill valves
Vijay Mohan Dave actuation and one 45 cfm, 135 bar for descaling water accumulator. A total of 16 nos rotary and 6 nos Hunt valve actuation is provided. These SMS and Rolling Mill power packs with related actuators, pneumatic and grease line system are maintained by my team which I head as Manager- Hydraulics. (3) Manager, Design / Engineering, M/s Pioneer Furnaces Pvt Ltd, Gujarat. June’05 – May’06 Pioneer Furnace is a ISO 9001 company for the design, manufacture and supply of industrial induction, gas fired and electrical heat treatment furnaces. I had the opportunity to make complete design of heat treatment and melting furnaces, incinerators, core and coreless induction furnace, solution heat treatment furnaces, PLC controlled machines for automobile sector, defense, government sectors, plastic Industries, etc. Attend techno-commercial discussions with client. In addition, I had the responsibility of quality control and inspection at supplier works, provide service support at site, which involves modifications, retrofitting, refurbishing of equipment, etc. (4) Sr. Manager, Design / Project Engineering, M/s Simplex Engineering, Bhilai. Oct’98 – June’05 : Simplex is a heavy scale engineering and construction co. in India. It is catering to the needs of major sectors like steel, power, cement, mining, railways and road construction. It takes turn key projects for construction of steel plants, water pumping plants, cement plants and railways. My job was to prepare production plans, dispatch plans, overall project status charts. Raised material indents and follow up with other depts. Directed the coordination between customer, purchase production, construction, erection, and stores dept for smooth running and timely completion of various projects. I successfully completed the Hot Strip Mill for Salem Steel Plant and Hot Strip Mill of Bokaro Steel Plant with coordination from German / Indian Partners during project execution. (5) Manager, Design (same company) Jan’93 to Oct’98: Design and develop mobile equipments for under ground coal mining & road construction equipments. Complete design and drawing with bill of materials of components, hydraulic circuits and piping layouts, prepare specification sheets for mechanical and hydraulic components like track drive motor gearbox, oil coolers, electric motors, hydraulic cylinders. Primary market survey for components such as hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, gearbox.
Vijay Mohan Dave Evaluate and approve offered components from suppliers for purchase. After manufacture, design verification and required modifications to the designs are made. I had the privilege of designing the following equipment: (a) Side Discharge Loaders for coal mines. : Complete design and made drawings of three versions of track mounted 1-2cum bucket capacity electrohydraulic mobile equipment - completed & verified. These machines weigh about 8.5 ton to 9 ton. (b) Coal Hauler for coal mines.: Complete design and drawing of 6 ton capacity tyre mounted electro-hydraulic equipment which weighs about 15 ton with a max. speed of 8 kph and 100m machine travel. Established designs for production tools, jigs and fixtures for fast and accurate production of components. Prepared material indents, designed special tools, jigs and fixtures for production use. Produced all first prototypes of critical jobs like points and crossings for railways, fabricated Co-Co bogie frames for diesel/AC locomotives, EMU motor coach bogie frames and get them approved for mass production by customer inspection. Modified designs of casnub bogies, hopper wagons, double roller cassette for steel plants to suit customer specific requirements. (6)
Dy. Manager, Production (Simplex Engineering & Foundry Works Ltd.) Jan’88 to Jan’93: Joined as a Production Engineer. Supervised production of SAIL steel plants equipments for hot strip mill modernization, steckel mill, mud guns and tap hole drills, cooling frames, pressure vessels, slab transfer cars, coil mandrel assembly, sinter plant equipment. Railway components like axle boxes, brake rigging assemblies, bogie bolster, bogie frames for diesel/AC Loco. Supervised assembly, testing and got job passed thru external inspection.
