MEDIA RELEASE | May 2009 VIETNAMESE STORIES Personal stories - Taking it to the Screens! Information and Cultural Exchange (ICE) will be running a film making course for young people from Vietnamese backgrounds. The workshops will be run by experienced Western Sydney filmmaker Maria Tran. Vietnamese Stories will train 10 Australian-Vietnamese young people in script writing, music recording and production, filmmaking, digital photography and online film preparation. At the end of the course, all participants will have produced their own “digital story” and be ready to share with the world. Participants will be encouraged to showcase their work online and at events and festivals. Vietnamese Stories will run every Saturday for four weeks during the month of June, 10am – 4pm at Cabravale Leisure Centre, Broomfield St, Cabramatta. Maria Tran, having completed Kung Fu Comedy “Maximum Choppage 2” and TV series “Downtown Rumble” is excited about this project opportunity and says “digital storytelling is the new age way of expression and an active way to connect with the world around us.” Vietnamese Stories is managed by Information & Cultural Exchange (ICE) with the support of our funding bodies and partners including Foundation for Young Australians, Artstart NSW, Sydney Community Foundation, Fairfield City Council and Vietlish. ICE receives core funding from Australia Council, Arts NSW, NSW Film and Television Office (FTO) and Parramatta City Council

Cơ Quan Thông Tin và trao đổi Văn Hoá (Information and Cultural Exchange) sẽ đứng ra tổ chức khoá phim ảnh cho các bạn trẻ gốc Việt. Khoá này sẽ được hướng dẫn bởi Maria Trần là chuyên viên điện ảnh đến từ vùng Tây Sydney. Hiện tại trên toàn thế giới, kỹ thuật kể chuyện qua việc thu hình phim ngắn ngày càng được phổ biến, như một phương pháp trao đổi kinh nghiệm và ý kiến. Việc sử dụng kỹ thuật điện tính có thể giúp người ta thuật lại những cậu chuyện cá nhân qua hình thức rất lôi cuốn và đầy xúc cảm. Khoá này nhầm tạo ra những câu chuyện đầy sức sống và mới lạ dành cho giới trẻ. Vietnamese Stories sẽ huấn luyện 10 bạn trẻ người Úc gốc Việt nghệ thuật soạn kịch bản, thâu nhạc, thực hiện đoạn phim, chụp ảnh digital và internet. Sau khi hoàn tất Khoá, các tham dự viên sẽ đem về một “cậu chuyện digital” cá nhân để chia sẻ với toàn thế giới. Các tham dự viên sẽ được mời triển lãm đoạn phim của họ trên internet cũng như các sinh hoạt cộng đồng và hội chợ. Khoá Vietnamese Stories sẽ được tổ chức mỗi Thứ Bẩy trong vòng bốn tuần trong tháng Sáu, từ 10 giờ sáng đến 4 giờ chiều tại trung tâm Cabravale Leisure Centre, Broomfield St, Cabramatta. Hướng dẫn viên Maria Trần, người vừa hoàn tất phim hài kung fu “Chặt Điểm Cao Nhất: Trận Nhì” và tập phim TV “Downtown Rumble” rất vui mừng và mong chờ dự án này và nói: “Kể chuyện qua lối digital là phương pháp tân thời để diển tả cảm xúc, để chia sẻ và được gần gũi hơn với thế giới xung quanh.” Hãy ghi danh tham dự ngay !
