Veronica Mars: The Unofficial Movie Act 2 By Mary and Louise
EXT. HEARST COLLEGE - DAY Veronica is walking around campus. VERONICA (V.O.) Days after the announcement that Jake Kane was murdered, the town has entered a weird state of mourning. Within days, Facebook groups, Myspace pages, and videos were created all commemorating the great life of Jake Kane. Veronica passes a table selling Jake Kane buttons and t-shirts. She picks up a t-shirt to look at it. VERONICA (V.O.) Who shot J.K? (pause) While the town is still mourning over the loss of Jake, they seemed to have conveniently overlooked the twenty-eight students injured that day in the auditorium. One of them was my best friend. Veronica drops the t-shirt and walks away angry. INT. HEARST COLLEGE - DAY Veronica enters the maintenance workers area. She confronts Weevil. VERONICA So where did you hide it? WEEVIL Veronica. What are you talking about? VERONICA Where did you hide the explosives? Witnesses saw you at the podium before the assembly began. WEEVIL I was checking the sound system. It falls under my job description. VERONICA And you expect me to believe that you didn’t see the C-4?

WEEVIL (angry) Why would I blow up an auditorium full of kids and the King of the 09ers?!! I didn’t do it Veronica. Look at my hands. I wasn’t wearing any gloves that day, and if I saw the C-4, I would have left my fingerprints. Weevil walks away. EXT. NEPTUNE HIGH SCHOOL - DAY Veronica is waiting for Joanna outside in the Neptune High School parking lot. Joanna exits the school with several students and sees Veronica. She hesitates before walking towards her. JOANNA Did you come to yell at me some more? VERONICA No. I need you to hear something. Joanna is waiting. VERONICA I believe your father is innocent. Do you know of anyone who had a grudge against your father? DUNCAN Veronica, that wasn’t the only reason I came back. I wanted to see you again. Veronica wishes she could continue where she and Duncan left off but there are obstacles. VERONICA How’s your daughter? DUNCAN Lilly is.... beautiful. She has Meg’s hair, my eyes. She is starting kindergarten soon. VERONICA None of that matters if you get caught Duncan. You’re still wanted for kidnapping. You need to hide.

CONSTRUCTION SITE - DAY Veronica and Joanna exit the vehicle and walk towards the construction site. JOANNA What’s this guy’s name again? VERONICA Future note- when questioning a suspect, know the guy’s name. His name is Danny Boyd. He is Liam Fitzpatrick’s- the guy we heard on the interrogation tapes- cousin. How did you bug the interrogation room anyway? JOANNA I was called in for questioning. I knew I couldn’t solve this case alone- so I left a bug under the table. (pause) Veronica, why are we asking Danny when Liam was on the tape? Veronica and Joanna approach DANNY BOYD, family member of the drug dealing, notorious Fitzpatricks.

(smirk) Veronica, are you accusing me of murdering Jake Kane? Wow, this is like what do you call it where something happens twice? JOANNA (naively) Déjà vu. DANNY BOYD Yeah- that! Déjà vu. Now, why would I want good ole Jake Kane dead? Danny sees LIAM FITZPARICK. DANNY BOYD Hey Liam! Look who came to visit us. Liam walks over. Veronica gets slightly tense. LIAM FITZPATRICK That was very gracious of you Veronica. DANNY BOYD She is saying we killed Jake Kane. LIAM FITZPATRICK That’s not a very nice thing to say Veronica. You don’t see me barging into your house and throwing accusations around. Now that’s just downright impolite. VERONICA I guess I should have brought a fruit basket or something. Why did you kill Jake Kane?

Hopefully that’ll be long enough to find out who killed my father. VERONICA I’ll do some more digging and see if I can find out if anyone would have had a reason to want your dad dead. (pause) Duncan...I’m sorryabout your father. DUNCAN Me too. I just wish he could’ve met his granddaughter. VERONICA I should be going. Wallace gets out of the hospital tomorrow morning and I don’t want him to be alone on his last night. Veronica grabs her bag, but is stopped by Duncan’s hand. She looks up and their eyes meet. DUNCAN Veronica, wait. Duncan kisses her. VERONICA Duncan, you can’t come back after four years and expect us to pick up where we left off in high school. So many things have changed... He walks into the Wallace’s room and finds Veronica asleep in a chair by Wallace’s bedside. Logan’s apparent worry subsides. He gently wakes Veronica. LOGAN Veronica. VERONICA Logan? Why are you here? LOGAN Your dad called me asking if I knew where you were. He said you never came home. VERONICA I completely forgot. LOGAN Veronica wanted me to tell you that she will see you at home. She was here but I told her I would take over so she could get some sleep. Short period of silence. WALLACE My nurse does look like Penelope Cruz, doesn’t she? INT. NEPTUNE HIGH SCHOOL - DAY Joanna is in the cafeteria with two friends. They are in line for food. While she still loves Duncan, she does not want to nor can she pursue a romantic relationship with Duncan. CLARENCE I’ll give you two weeks to talk to him, but if you fail, I will have to step in.
