Why should catechists consider using Videos, DVDs, CDs & Music in Faith Formation?
1. Our students live in a media world. They’re used to getting information in multi-media fashion.
Why use Videos, DVDs & Music? 2. Kids get bored with only discussion, lectures and reading.
Why use Videos, DVDs & Music? 3. Teacher’s manuals make suggestions for media to be used in lessons.
Why use Videos, DVDs & Music? 4. Learning styles of students vary greatly. Use variety to “catch” them all.
Why use Videos, DVDs & Music? 5. It’s the best technique to accomplish a specific goal or objective.
Why use Videos, DVDs & Music? 6. The Office of Evangelization & Catechesis Media Centers have Media to lend.
Use Media to… Introduce a new topic. Review a finished topic or unit. Serialize a topic. Get discussion started. Let the experts handle the tough subjects.
Use media to… Take your students back in time. Prepare for a field trip. Look at an old topic in a new way. Play a trivia game.
Use media to… Enhance a lesson or prayer with music. Pray or meditate.
