It is easy to just print off the papers so that the student can still get the work done.

Field Courses Only – Post lesson Reflection During the direct instruction time students weren’t asking any questions. They weren’t highly engaged and that was clear when we got to independent work and they were all asking lots of questions. I would say that during class only half of them were understanding the content. This showed me that as we used this content more in our next lessons I needed to emphasize that we could do certain things because of properties of logs. I would have added a time for them to be able to assess themselves and their level of understanding. Maybe and exit ticket where they would have to write a question they had. Of the 14 students that took the formative, 1 got a 3, 2 got a 2.5, 5 got a 2, and 6 got a 1. They took the formative 6 days after the initial lesson and didn’t do a warm- up beforehand. I didn’t do the warm-up beforehand because I wanted the students to watch a video about logarithms. I also thought that they should be fine because they had two classes to ask questions and practice this content. Most of the mistakes were around applying the content that they had already learned. They forgot that when you have a log=# you have to do something different form when you have log=log. For the students that did not meet the standard I will take time during our review day to check in with them on this content. They also got notes on their formative about what they did wrong. Teaching Standards and Rationale Standard #9 Reflection and Continuous Growth Homework review as warm-up. Rationale: Usually we don’t go over the homework and it is up to the students to ask any questions that they have. I knew this time though that there were going to be a lot of questions on the homework because of how the last lesson went. So I decided to review some of the homework problems as a way to warm-up and review last class.
