UNIQUE NEW ZEALAND Until the arrival of humans in New Zealand the land that makes up the islands of Aotearoa had been isolated from the rest of
the world for nearly 80 million years. This geographic isolation resulted in the evolution of many unique plants and animals found nowhere else on earth.
Since humans arrived and started to modify the environment
many species have began to decline in numbers and many have become extinct.
Your Task: In groups of 3 and using a shared document (google slides) research one Native New Zealand animal and produce an informative presentation that addresses the following:
1. Your animals name. (Maori and/or European)
2. Where is it found? (geographically / habitat)
3. What does it eat?
4. What threatens its survival?
5. How many are thought to exist?
6. What is being done to protect it? 7. Any other interesting facts Your presentation should display pictures of your animal and its habitat and the contact details of any
organisation that is involved in its protection and any advice on what we as New Zealanders can do to assist in its protection / survival.
Make your presentations informative and visually stunning.
