Guidelines 1. All students to wear correct uniform as detailed in Appendix 1. Any variation must be subject to agreement by Tutor / HOY. 2. Staff should be aware of correct uniform. 3. Staff should be vigilant and take action. • Investigate reason for incorrect uniform • If appropriate (at Form Tutor’s discretion) provide student with slip. • If situation not easily remedied, student should be referred to the head of year. 4. School contracts to include clauses relating to school’s expectations regarding uniform and parents to receive current uniform details on a regular basis. 5. Parents to be notified of any changes to uniform prior to them coming into force. 6. Labelling of clothes to be encouraged. 7. School to offer second hand uniform for sale or loan. 8. Headwear to be removed prior to entering school. Conclusion Uniform is an essential component of the Hyde Technology school ethos. It is the responsibility of the staff, students and parents that the policy is adhered to. Monitoring the Policy The Pastoral Team are responsible for monitoring the policy. The policy will be reviewed every two years, or as changes in uniform come about.

Material should be suitable for school (not silk, satin, chiffon). School sweatshirt to be worn on top. In addition plain black headscarf may be worn. This should be made of plain black cotton with no embroidery, decoration or fringing. It should be tied securely around the head and neck with the ends tucked in for health and safety reasons. In certain circumstances e.g. religious reasons exceptions may be made to the above rules. Application should be made to the Headteacher / Chair of Governors on the understanding that it is at their discretion and on an individual basis.
