Introduction Television and Adventism are incompatible. I am not speaking of the machines. Nor am I speaking of the typical life of the church members. It is the influence of television viewing and God’s purpose for the Adventist church that are not compatible. To demonstrate this fact is the purpose of this article. To remind Adventism of its calling, and then to contrast this with the medium of television, is the method that will be employed. While the programming on national channels and cable undermines God’s intentions for his church, they do not pose any significant threat to the general spirit that pervades Laodicea. The feelings and thoughts of our church, as prophesied by the
True Witness, match well those that television tends to produce. We are in tune, you might say, with the entertainment ands news mediums of our choice. There is little in her television viewing to shock her senses, or even to wake her from her dreams.
