This a diagnosis of exclusion, when a couple have normal results of a standard infertiity workup. It affects about 10-15% of couples. Thought to be due to relative subfertility of each partner. Either partner noted to have been able to have children with other partners with higher fertility.
TREATMENT
Expectant observation with timed intercourseconception rates of 30-80% in 3 years, depending on the woman’s age and duration of infertility. Super-ovulation; Clomiphene and IUI for up to 4 cycles. Human menopausal gonadotropin and IUI for 3 cycles. Assisted reproductive techniques. GIFT, ZIFT, IVF+ET, SUZI, ICSI, TESA, PESA, MESA, DI CHILDLESS LIVING
