UGA's New Media Institute to host "Technology for the Turnaround" With the motto that a crisis is a terrible thing to waste, the University of Georgia New Media Institute will offer “Technology for the Turnaround” on Saturday, April 25, at the Miller Learning Center. UGA conducts search for provost The Search Committee to help choose a successor to Arnett C. Mace Jr., who will retire as senior vice president for academic affairs and provost on Jan. 1, 2010, has developed a Web site to provide information to potential candidates and to keep the university community informed of its progress.
Spring 2009 Computer Health and Security Fair UGA students, faculty, and staff are invited to bring their laptops to the second floor lobby of the Miller Learning Center between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on April 21 for security assistance. The Spring 2009 Computer Health and Security Fair security checkup includes virus scans and software updates, spyware removal, and more. The event is sponsored by EITS and TEC Services. AMAZING STUDENT: Claudio Berther After he completed his program of basic studies at the University of Zurich in Switzerland, Claudio Berther decided he wanted to study abroad. For one year, he and about 40 other students have joined the student body at UGA. Berther studies law, and he knew UGA has a highly-regarded law school. He also uses a wheelchair, and he heard that the United States is one of the most accessible places in the world for wheelchair users. Berther has met numerous people at UGA, and he is actively involved in a community of other people with disabilities. He has been traveling to New York and Washington, D.C. and making contacts all over the university. After he finishes his degree, he plans to work for an international organization like the United Nations or work in a law firm specializing in disability law.
