Two Interview Scenarios.
1. Scenario External Focus Government has instructed your Department to introduce a new funding arrangement within the sector. The majority of institutions and their parent organisation are not keen on this and resent the political drive behind it. You must plan and implement this in the most effective way. A few larger institutions that support the concept, break away from their parent body and form a new umbrella organisation. They indicate that they are keen for the model to work and that their cooperation and support is conditional on genuine involvement in implementing this. •

2. Scenario Internal Focus You have been appointed as a team manager and you have agreed to delay taking up the role to complete the large project you currently lead. The acting team leader will continue until your officially take up the role. A few months before your project ends you identify new work items relevant to your new team. You want to make use of a) your growing availability to focus on these and b) you want to involve your team members in this. Some will come with you from your project when it ends and some are currently working with the acting team manager. •
