TRUE LOVE O Love! What is Love? Love is not craziness Love is not breathlessness It is not excitement It is not promises of eternal passion which erupts like Mount Saint Helens And then subsides This is just being in love Love is what is left over when being in love has burned away My mother and I had it, My father and I had it Love had roots that grew towards each other underground And when all the pretty blossoms had fallen on the ground We found one tree and not two or three But my tree has gone Leaving me to find love again But in vain Then I heard about him He was selfless He was generous He was tender He was brave He was merciful His heart had tremendous capacity to love "The first love that we ever knew in Islam was the love of Aisha and him," Anas ibn Malik (r.a.) said Though to Aisha (r.a.), he said "Allah has placed this love in my heart for her (Khadija) and something I have no control over" He never forgot his companions He brought light to darkness He is my true love The beloved of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) by Aisha Othman
