TRM Offers Maximo® Application Performance Testing Do you find yourself:  Deploying Maximo for the first time? 

Applying patches and/or upgrading Maximo from a previous version?  Implementing a new configuration release of Maximo (e.g., changes and/or adding major functionality)?  Moving to a new hardware (e.g., adding more server horsepower, adding 3rd party hardware such as load balancers) and/or software platform (e.g., Windows to Sun, SQL Server to Oracle)?  Adding more transactional load due to increased utilization (e.g., users and/or interfaces)?  Concerned about how your end-to-end infrastructure will scale to provide adequate availability and performance in support of Maximo?

Events like these can pose tremendous risk when it comes to an acceptable level of performance and availability of your Maximo system. Being proactive and mitigating risk head-on in a pre-production environment prior to going live with significant changes to the system simply put is the smart thing to do. Organizations that fail to address this risk through a proven mitigation strategy are often times left with a system that might functionally deliver, but comes up short on adequate performance and availability. Without adequate performance and availability, utilization of the system typically decreases, along with a confidence in the departments that were responsible for the deployment and sustainability of Maximo. This could lead to requiring costly measures to address those issues, or even result in a failed program. TRM’s Systems Engineering organization has years of proven experience in consulting, planning, and executing Maximo Performance Testing. Our clients include the U.S. Navy, New York Power Authority, Dominion Power, Department of Interior, Kellogg Brown and Root, Colorado Springs Utilities, Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority, and Eastern Municipal Water District.

TRM’s partnership with Hewlett Packard combines Maximo performance and optimization expertise (TRM SE Consulting Services) with a market-leading load testing software tool (HP LoadRunner®).

Load Testing Infrastructure

TRM’s Maximo® Application Performance Testing Offering

TRM’s Maximo Application Performance Testing includes these steps: • •

We begin by working closely with your team to thoroughly understand the Maximo system configuration and architecture With input from the team, we define and develop a “Maximo workload model” that consists of business processes (e.g., Work Order, Purchase Order, Reporting, Inventory, etc.) with transactions that represent anticipated transactional load and behavior The Maximo workload model is used to develop load test scripts and scenarios using HP LoadRunner. The load test scenarios are defined and aligned with the load test objectives (e.g., need to scale up to 100 concurrent users with ‘adequate’ performance and availability, followed by a stress test to see where the system peaks.) TRM SE Consultants arrange an onsite visit to execute the Maximo load test scenarios – using the LoadRunner Controller. The scenarios are staged, executed and data collapsed to Load Generators where synthetic load is generated from. We then review load testing results, recommend system tuning (if necessary), and rerun the load test to validate the recommendations.

What’s included •

TRM resources include an assigned Project Manager along with up to three (3) Senior Systems Engineers highly skilled in the Maximo system configuration and architecture – skills includes but not limited to server hardware, 3rd party hardware, Windows/Sun/AIX, WebSphere/WebLogic, Oracle/SQL Server, Actuate and MEA. Travel includes one (1) week long site visit by a TRM engineer to work with you to define the “Maximo

workload model” and one (1) week long site visit by a TRM engineer to execute the load test scenarios with other TRM engineers providing ‘reach-back’ support as required. The Maximo workload model will consist of a maximum of six (6) business processes each containing no more than 10 transactions each (total of 60 transactions) and SQL scripts to emulate current interface transactional load. Load test scenarios will consist of calibration runs, baseline, and up to 3 official load tests (load tests beyond 3 can be executed at an additional cost). Load test debrief and report Total Estimated Cost: $75,000.00 (includes all Labor, Travel, ODC, and one-time use of HP LoadRunner)

For budgetary purposes only – scope and cost is subject to change depending on the actual requirements and expectations of the client. Client Responsibilities Include • • • • •

Providing the hardware for the HP Load Generators and Monitoring Console Providing remote access to the Maximo system for remote scripting of the business processes Opening port 443 outbound on the firewall to allow the HP LoadRunner Controller to connect to Load Generators and Monitoring Console Maximo functional subject matter experts to assist in the development of the business process scripts and workload model Maximo IT support staff (e.g., system administrators, network administrators, database administrators, etc.) to assist during the execution and interpretation of the performance load test, as well as participating in any remediation measures as a result of the analysis
