‘Eyes On Fire’ – Treatment This video is conceptually-based around an addiction or dependence on someone/something that will ultimately lead to destruction of the self. Our primary target audience is 18-25, predominantly female who appreciate music as an art form.
“And I’m not scared of your stolen power I see right through you any hour” The video begins with the lead female waking up in a dirty tunnel, confused and amnesiac. The camera follows her journey of self-discovery, as does another mysterious masked figure who represents her subconscious self. There will be other masked figures in the background, watching voyeuristically, though she is oblivious to their presence – however, occasionally she will accidentally echo their movements, by walking in or touching a space previously occupied by them.
“I won’t soothe your pain I won’t ease your strain” During these lyrics, there is a distinct pause of silence, during which we will have fast-paced editing to represent the character’s frantic state of mind and descent into madness. There will also be a recurring tunnel theme.
“Shuffling the cards of your game And just in time In the right place Suddenly I will play my ace” During the video, there will be a running theme of Alice in Wonderland – every time the main character changes location, it will be as though she has fallen through a hole; while she stays still, the background will move and shift, and there will be a bright light – when the lighting returns to normal, she will find herself in a new location once again. The Alice in Wonderland theme will be particularly strong during the above lyrics – the masked figure will be holding up the ace of hearts to its face and later discard it, only for the lead female to pick it up afterwards.
The video will end with the lead female realise the masked figure, and either put on a mask herself or shatter it.
