FREE MYO MIN ZAW Myo Min Zaw is a prisoner of conscience. He was imprisoned in 1998, at the age of 21, for his role in student demonstrations calling for improvements to education and support for the opposition party, the National League for Democracy. Myo Min Zaw was reportedly tortured in interrogation and sentenced to 38 years imprisonment, now increased to 52 years, solely for the non-violent expression of his beliefs. He has suffered from gastric pain and a skin disease in prison.

FREE MA KHIN KHIN LEH
Ma Khin Khin Leh is a prisoner of conscience. The school teacher and mother was imprisoned at the age of 33 after the authorities could not locate her politically-active husband who was planning a peaceful political march. Ma Khin Khin Leh was given a life sentence in 1999 under vaguely-worded security legislation. Even by the harsh standards of ‘justice’ used by Myanmar's military government, her life sentence is extreme. She has suffered from an unspecified lung problem, rheumatoid arthritis and dysentry in prison. Amnesty International is very concerned for her safety and wellbeing.

Myanmar’s security laws have unjustly punished people for exercising their individual freedom of expression. Ma Khin Khin Leh was given a harsh sentence of life imprisonment under these laws. I ask you to amend these vaguely-worded security laws to prevent them from being used to curtail the rights of the people of Myanmar.
