To my dear friends and family, I hope all has been going well for you! I am sorry for the delay in getting this update letter out to you. I promise to be more faithful in coming months!  Things have been incredibly busy, as Mission 28 has started up for the semester! Through this letter I want to update you on: 1) Our first two months of Mission 28 2) How my support raising is going 3) A little bit of a personal update

No. 1 | How Mission 28 is doing ... This semester started out busy from the beginning with our Leadership Team Camping Trip and White Water Rafting Retreat (Jul 31 & Aug 1) to Georgia. It looked like rain but the Lord was kind and we had a great camping trip and an awesome time bonding as a leadership team, hanging out around the fire, burning stuff, sleeping underneath the stars and rafting down the Ocoee River the next day. Soon after we had our Freshman/Sophomore Retreat (Aug 14 & 15). We had an awesome time taking the upcoming freshman and this year's sophomores on our annual retreat to the mountains. It was a great opportunity to get to know the "newbies" coming into Mission 28, give them the vision for what we do in Mission 28 and in general just hang out and have a good time. The weekend was a success and we all came home safe and sound... and tired! Lots of waterfall swimming, hiking and staying up late! Thankfully no cracked ribs this time around. (I didn't climb any waterfalls this year.)  We have a lot of new freshman in Mission 28 and I'm really excited to have them as part of our group. Monday, August 24 brought the official start of Mission 28 and the first day of classes on UNCC. That Monday and the whole week following it brought on our hardest week - Survey Booths. From 9am-2pm every day we set up a table at different spots on campus and asked people to fill out short surveys for us. This week is a vital part since it is the week we get all of our initial contacts to follow up with the rest of the year. Its tiring work, but the Lord blessed our efforts and we made over 800 contacts during the week. Friday, August 28 was our first event of the year - our HOOTENANNY. Thankfully, even though it looked like it was going to rain the whole time, it never did and we had a fun time playing sports, goofing around on our giant slip n' slide, eating hot dogs, visiting with students and watching an outdoor movie. There were lots of students there who told us that night that they had had a great time and wanted to check out Mission 28. Success! The following Sunday, August 30 we had our Mission 28 Welcome Back Sunday at CrossWay to welcome all the UNCC students back. After the meeting we had our second Mission 28 Hot Dog Lunch Fundraiser of the summer. Again the Lord blessed us and we were able to raise over 800 dollars for our Rekindle fund. That is 800 more dollars that we will have to be able to send college students on our Spring Break trip, Rekindle, where we are able to share the gospel with them in a direct way! Doing these fundraisers and having all of CrossWay participate in them has been such a blessing. The 2nd week of school (Aug 31 - Sept 4) we started up all of our weekly stuff. Monday Bible Studies, Tuesday Open Discussions, Wednesday Small Group, and Thursday BIG Meeting. They all began wonderfully and have continued so. We had over 20 people attend the Holshouser Open Discussion I help in that first Tuesday.

An update letter from Charlotte Dixon | Sept 2009

Connecting with students has gone well and people are genuinely interested and have continued coming. In Small Groups we have started going through Bible passages and doing Bible Studies during our Wednesday night time. This kind of study has been so encouraging to me and I'm sure to the whole group. Its awesome to dive into God's Word and discuss as college students how we interpret the passage. Thursday night was a big night as it was our first Mission 28 Big Meeting on campus. We were able to reserve the room in the Rowe Arts Building on UNCC that we were desiring. Thursday night we carted all our stuff over to campus and set up for the first time in our new room. The Big Meeting went really well. A lot of new students came and it was cool to see how the atmosphere of the Big Meeting had changed by bringing it to them. Students seemed a lot more comfortable and at home hanging out with us in one of their own college classrooms. Joe gave an excellent message from Joshua 24 on "Choose this day who you will serve". The M28 Band sounded amazing with the new room acoustics and all in all the meeting seemed to go really well. As the semester has continued for another week there has been so much to be thankful for. All of us interns have been able to meet, interact and befriend students on campus. People keep coming to ODs and Big Meetings and the gospel is going forth! Thank you for praying! The Lord is definitely blessing our ministry in a big way this year. I am in charge of Advertising and Graphics for Mission 28 this year and have been having fun with that.  A good deal of my time the past few months has been spent working on the Mission 28 website and graphics and keeping it updated... check it out: http://mission28.com. So thatʼs sort of an update on what's been going on with Mission 28. You can continue to pray for our Bible Studies, ODs, Big Meetings, 2 Events and a Girls Retreat we have coming up the rest of September and in October. Check out the Prayer List at the end of this letter for specific ways you can pray for Mission 28 and me personally.  Now for a little update on my support raising…

No. 2 | How I’m doing in my support raising... The Lord has been kind to faithfully bring in support a little at a time. A BIG thank you to every one of my supporters. Whether you gave a little or a lot, your money has been working to get the gospel on the campus of UNCC and allow me to be a part of that - and I am so grateful! :) As of this point I have raised a little over $5,000 of the $14,000 I need to raise. This leaves about $9,000 I still need. I have seen the Lord work wonderful things and I have no doubt that He will bring this money in for my ministry this year. I have a good bit of money left to raise but if you break it down it looks like this: 40 people x $25 per month x 9 months (Sept-May) = $9,000 20 people x $50 per month x 9 months (Sept-May) = $9,000 Would you please pray about partnering with me in my ministry by giving a one-time gift or making a monthly pledge of $25 or $50? All donations are tax-deductible and details for giving are on the back of the Supporter Slip included in this letter. Please be praying that the Lord continues to bring the rest of my support in. I would like to raise the rest of my support (either by one time gifts or pledges) by the end of October.

No. 3 | How things have been going personally… Just a short update on what's been going on with me personally. Life has been pretty crazy. My sister Katherine came home from her year in Wales and has been home for almost 2 months now. It is good to have her home. She is also engaged to her British boyfriend David who is still in Wales. We have been busy with Immigration paperwork to try and get him over to the States sometime next year. My best friend Mindy Odell got herself hitched and is now Mindy Coleman. Her wedding was such a happy day and I'm thrilled for her. The Lord has been so kind to me and has been my rock through a season with lots of change. He continues to guide me day by day and give me the strength to get done everything thatʼs on my plate for that day. I feel so blessed to have such a loving family, friends and a God who is always faithful, merciful and gracious with me. Life is good. Often I feel like I can't handle everything thatʼs going on - the busyness with work and life - and then I realize that is the best place for me to be. Realizing my weakness, resting in my God and using His strength for my work, for my friendships, for my family. He is ever good and ever kind to me and it is only through Him can I truly say, "It is well with my soul". God is good. So I hope you all have been having a great last few months. Thanks for praying for me. Thanks for supporting me. Thanks for being my friends and family. I love you all. One thing I would like to do is ask if any of you would like prayer for anything? I would love to "return the favor" so to speak and lift up my wonderful friends in prayer! So if you have any prayer requests of any type, please email them to me or send them to me in the mail. I would love to hear from you all. Have a great fall and look forward to another update letter later on in October!  Remember you can always check out my blog too at: http://charchar37.wordpress.com. Love you all

Ways to Pray... Pray that the Lord would help us connect with students in order to befriend and share the gospel with them. Mondays | 8 pm | Guys & Girls Freshman Bible Studies

Tuesdays | 8 pm | Open Discussions

Wednesdays | 7:30 pm | Small Groups (every other Wednesday)

Thursdays | 8 pm | BIG Meetings on campus

Pray for these upcoming events in Sept/Oct: September 25 | 9-11 pm | M28 BounceU Party

October 9-10 | M28 Girls Retreat to the mountains

October 24 | M28 All Day Fun Day (Football on campus, then Pancake dinner and bonfire at church)

Pray for me personally: -To rely on the Lord’s strength to do my work rather than my own ability. -That the Lord would give me boldness in forming friendships and sharing the gospel. -That the Lord would protect me from sickness and give me energy. - That I would be faithful to seek the Lord through personal times with Him. That in the busyness I wouldn't let that slide, but protect that time and draw much strength and grace for my ministry through relating with my Lord. -That He would give me great joy for the here and now and great faith for whatever He has for me in the future. Also that the Lord would give me wisdom as I begin praying about next year and whether it will include a 3rd year of internship or not.
