Allegory

A story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to revel a hidden meaning.

What is Allegory?

Why Allegory? Understanding the Character Each chapter starts off with a short poem that the main character, Lennie, writes on any surface handy to express her feelings. Her feelings are based off of the events that come up in the following pages.

PURPOSE Lennie writes her feelings as metaphores into poems convaying her feelings

THE STRATEGY She uses this technique in short poems at the start of chapters

EFFECT ON READERS Readers relate to the main character and what she is going through. Poetry uses a great deal of pathos creating an impact on readers feelings.
