I .Why are names so important:

Every Bible name has a meaning. So much so, that sometimes when God changed the nature of a person He also changed his or her name. The new name was a way to let them in on the divine plan and also to assure them that God’s plan would be fulfilled in them . Genesis 17:5 , Genesis 32:28 , John

1:42

IV. Four Different Names for Jesus A. The Name Christ: John 1:41, John 5:39 , John 4:25 Christ is the official, name of the Messiah. It is the equivalent of the Old Testament Mashiach (from mashach, to anoint), and thus means "the anointed one."

B. The Name Son of Man: Ps. 8:4; Dan. 7:13, Matt. 16:27, 28; Mark 8:38, 31; 13:26 The term seems to emphasize his humanity

C. The Name Son of God: Rom 1:3-4, Gal 4:4; , John 5:18-25; John 10:30-38 Sonship of Christ denotes his equality with the Father. To call Christ the Son of God is to assert his true and proper divinity. The second Person of the Trinity, because of his eternal relation to the first Person, is the Son of God.

D. The Name Lord (Kuros): Matthew 12:8, Luke 2:11, 1 Cor. 6:14 signifying "having power" (kuros) or "authority," is used as a noun, variously translated in the NT, "'Lord,' 'master,' 'Master,' 'owner.

VII.The benefits of the name Jesus: Romans 10:9 , Acts 2:38 , Acts 3:6,

Matt. 28:19, 1 Cor. 8:6, John 14:13, John 14:14, John 15:16, John 16:23
