Songs of the Pearl Group Activity John Steinbeck’s novel “The Pearl” often refers to songs that are important to Kino and his people, but the words are never mentioned. Directions: In your group, write some appropriate lyrics for one of the following songs – The Song of the Family or The Song of Evil. Each song should contain at least 5 references to the novel “The Pearl” using the 5 P’s: Point, Place, Perspective, People and Plot. Your lyrics do not have to rhyme. Write your lyrics down as a group on a draft piece of paper before working on your final version. Be sure to include which song you’re writing lyrics to as a title at the top of your group paper. Your final lyrics sheet should also be decorated with drawings of symbols you believe represent different elements of your song.
