Swechha Maskey (Nepal) Acne Prevention What's the best way to get rid of acne? Prevent the pimples from forming up in the first place! Articles below provide information and tips that will help you in preventing acne. Acne prevention often becomes essential during our teenage years. It can cause great distress and embarrassment at an age when young people are very concerned about how they look. Almost no teenager ¨ and many an adult on drugs like lithium ¨ is spared a prolonged period of acne problems. Pubescent girls need to pay greater attention to acne prevention because of the hormonal upsurges associated with the onset of menstruation. Increased hormonal activity is the root cause of acne occurrence. This in turn causes excess oil production in the skin¡s sebaceous glands. It is a sad fact that the areas most affected by acne are those that are almost constantly visible with today¡s youthful fashion trends. Most acne prevention and control compounds contain specific compounds to address the problem. The packaging will indicate the presence of these compounds. One of these is benzoyl peroxide (sometimes in combination with the antibiotic erythromycin). The popular Clearasil contains
this agent. Most affected teenagers address acne prevention with manic scrubbing and dieting. They do this because of a mistaken assumption that the problem is related to poor hygiene or improper nutrition. Avoiding fatladen junk foods like cheeseburgers is definitely a step in the right direction for other health-related reasons. However, it will do little by ways of acne prevention. Skin hygiene is important, and one can prevent acne to a certain extent by increased and regular cleansing. However, one tends to go overboard and resort to using extreme measures like a face wash of strong toothpaste and other harsh compounds. This will only aggravate the problem by encouraging increased compensatory oil production in the skin. The belief that astringents discourage excess oil secretion is nothing but a myth. Astringents do take care of superficial oils. However, they are of no use in acne prevention because they cause the skin to contract. This clogs pores and causes long-term aggravation for short-term cosmetic benefits. The best course of action is using a mild cleansing agent to wash town the entire face (not just the fabled T zone or only acne-
affected areas) and regular shampooing of hair. Oily hair causes facial oiliness. This is especially true for those who sport chin/shoulder-length hair. Most importantly, picking at or rubbing of acne blemishes is strictly contraindicated. Doing this can lead to permanent scarring and skin discoloration that will require measures like laser treatment to correct later on. Excessive exposure to sunlight is also a definite no-no - especially if one is using a compound like tritinoin, which increases the skin¡s photosensitivity. Tanning lamps can cause the same harmful effect. Females affected with acne must rigorously scan the contents of their cosmetics before using them ¨ only those without an oily base and with the tag ¡non-comedogenic¡ (nonobstructing to skin pores) on the label should be used. It is also important to avoid sports headgear such as headbands and cycling helmets. Many fashion accessories that cover part of the facial skin can cause constriction or irritation, too. SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY Why are Cheetahs susceptible to various viral diseases?
If anybody marries a close relative in his family the off-springs are susceptible to diseases because of reduction in MHC gene polymorphism. It is assumed that all cheetahs alive today are descendants of a very small breeding pool. The strong evidence is suggested by present day cheetahs. The increased susceptibility of cheetahs to various viral diseases may result from a reduction in the number of different MHC molecules available to the species as a whole and a corresponding limitation on the range of processed antigens with these MHC molecules can interact. Rakesh Babu (India)
Do you know? The height of a person varies during a day. The height of a person in the morning is higher than in the evening. So, a person¡s height is taken by the average of the heights in the morning & evening. The reason for this is when we sleep there will be no gravity so muscles in the vertebral column relax and length of the vertebral column increases, so our height increases after some time because of gravity vertebral column return to its normal length. You can also observe this yourself in the mirror. If you can¡t believe, you can observe an increase in height of an astronomer after a long journey in the space. His height may increase 2-3 inches than his previous height after the journey in the space.

Saturated fatty acids, longer than 14 carbons long had no such activity. And of the MCFA, lauric acid (C12:0) was most potent, particularly in its monoglyceride form (monolaurin); it was more active than caprilic acid (C-8) caprie acid (C-10) or myristic acid (C-14). Two Americans and one Japanese scientist won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry today for the discovery and development of a brightly glowing jellyfish protein, which has helped scientists study how cancer cells spread. Japan's Osamu Shimomura and Americans Martin Chalfie and Roger Tsien shared the prize for their research on Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP), the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said.

In the 1990s, Chalfie showed GFP's value 'as a luminous genetic tag,' while Tsien contributed 'to our general understanding of how GFP fluoresces,' the academy said in its citation. It said that their work has enabled 'scientists to follow several different biological processes at the same time. That means that researchers have been able to use GFP to track nerve cell damage from Alzheimer's disease or see how insulin-producing beta-cells are created in the pancreas of a growing embryo. In one spectacular experiment, researchers succeeded in tagging different nerve cells in the brain of a mouse with a kaleidoscope of colour the citation said.
The positive anti-viral action was seen not only with the monoglyceride of lauric acid but with coconut oil itself. This indicates that coconut oil is metabolized to monoglyceride forms of The trio will split the 10 million kronor (? 00, 000) award. SPORTS & EVENTS Pool Techniques - Play Pool Like a Pro For the outside spectator, it seems as if professional pool players are performing difficult moves and trick shots at ease. However, the top pool players are practicing techniques that help them increase their control over the cue ball and, eventually maximize their winnings. For example, 8-ball pool players are using billiards techniques that help them to maneuver the cue ball so it will rest in a position that would enable the to pocket the desired ball. Additionally, top players are also using billiard techniques that make it harder for their opponent to pocket a ball. Here is a basic introduction to the various techniques applied by professional players in pool games. English is a side spin positioned on the cue ball, in which the cue ball is hit to the left or right of the center. By using English, the player can also change the direction of an object ball and the route of the cue ball after contacting with the cue. Follow is a spin in the direction of the cue ball¡s path in a manner that causes it to spin faster than usual. When the follow technique is used, it can widen the angle of departure of the cue ball from the object ball shortly afterwards. Additionally, follow can increase the rate of cue ball path before and after contacting the object ball. Force Follow is an intense form of follow, which causes the cue ball to pause for less than a minute and then to travel forward all the way through any ball positioned in its way. Draw is backward spin put on the cue ball; the shooting player hits the cue ball underneath the middle of its vertical level surface. When a draw technique is used, it causes the angle of departure of the cue ball to be narrowed right after it departed from the object ball. In addition, draw can help in slowing the rate of cue ball move plus it can even impart an amount of follow to the object ball. Force Draw is an intense type of draw. Similar to force follow, it also causes the cue ball to pause for a minute and then to shoot backward straight away. Aabesh Koirala (Nepal)

The Music - The Blues (Genre of Music) The Music: The word music is derived from the Greek word μουσική (mousike), "art of the Muses". Musicology is the study of the subject of music. The earliest definitions defined three sub-disciplines: systematic musicology, historical musicology, and comparative musicology or ethnomusicology. The Blues (Genre of Music): The Blues is a vocal and instrumental form of music based on the use of the blue notes. It emerged as an accessible form of self-expression in African-American (imported from West Africa; principally present day Mali, Senegal, the Gambia and Ghana) communities of the United States from spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts and chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads. The Blues Hiatus & Its Revival: When the Depression hit the U.S. in 1929, many blues singers found it difficult to make a living. Record sales slumped and record companies tapered back on recording the blues. Nevertheless, the early blues was instrumental in influencing later blues singers like Muddy Waters. During the 1960s, white musicians from the U.S. and England discovered the old recordings of the early bluesmen and this lead the way to a blues revival. Today, the blues is recognized for its influence on other genres of music, such as rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and rap.
Blues till today: John lee hooker, B. B. King, Muddy Waters, White Audiences' interest in the blues during the 1960s increased due to the Chicago-based Paul Butterfield Blues Band and the British blues movement. The style of British blues developed in the UK, when bands such as Fleetwood Mac, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, and Cream performed classic blues songs from the Delta or Chicago blues traditions.

Red Cliffs and events during the end of the Han Dynasty and immediately prior to the period of the Three Kingdoms in ancient China. The film is expected to be released in two versions: within Asia, Red Cliff is to be released in two parts totaling over four hours in length. The first part was released in July 2008 and the second is due for release in January 2009. Outside of Asia, a single 2? hour film will be released in January 2009. The film is directed by John Woo and stars Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Zhang Fengyi, Chang Chen, Hu Jun, Lin Chi-ling and Zhao Wei. With an estimated budget of US$80 million, Red Cliff is the most expensive Asian-financed film to date. The story tells one of the greatest battles in the Chinese 5,000 years history, it took place in the turbulent years among warlords and nobles in the end of the Han Dynasty, about 180 years A.D., the most calculative cunning evil man of the Chinese history Cao Cao who was the Prime Minister of the Han Dynasty led a eight hundred thousand men army attack two opposition forces Liu Bei and Sun Quan in the southern China after uniting the north. Liu Bei was famous due to his kindness to his people and his oath to his sworn brothers Guan Yu (was later honored as the God of Martial Art) and Zhang Fei. Liu Bei also received helps from Zhuge Liang, probably the smartest man recorded in the Chinese history as his Military Adviser and one of the best generals at the time Zhao Yun. Cao Cao envied Liu Bei's personal quality that can attract loyal comrades while Cao Cao himself is always in betrayal dilemma with his allies. Liu Bei named his kingdom as Shu-Han, in order to defeat the northern invasion troops led by Cao Cao, Liu Bei had no choice but to seek for alliance from Eastern Wu Kingdom in Jiangdong led by Sun Quan. Liu Bei sent the talented Zhuge Liang to Eastern Wu to persuade Sun Quan and his best right-hand man Zhou Yu. Although Zhou Yu felt that Zhuge Liang along with Shu-Han will be a future threat to Eastern Wu, he decided to form alliance for the time being with Shu-Han to resist the invasion by Cao Cao. The battle took place in a pass on the Yangtze River called Chi Bi, AKA Red Cliffs. The film ends with Zhou Yu lighting his miniature-sized ships on a map based on the battle formation with a torch, signifying the plans with the Battle of Chi Bi.

I reached out to this friend
She knew my every weakness
To show her that I care
And problems I¡ve been dealt.
To pull her close and left her know How much I need her there.
She understood my wonders And listened to my dreams
I went to hold her hand
She listened to how I felt about life and love
To pull her a bit nearer
And knew what it all means.
And realized that this perfect friend I found Was nothing but my mirror.
Not once did she interrupt me
Being human
We come into this world We say, we believe, & then contradict, We forget, forgive, & then remind We love & hate people We unite, blame & then separate We make a few mistakes, learn & repeat them We know & don¡t know what we want, We say killing is inhuman & then we kill We talk religion & don¡t follow its teachings Though words of every holy is same We differentiate them too We say we love but does self-less love exist We think & think & then give up We laugh at others & cry for ourselves We ignore & forget but fail to accept, And then I think what if we could, Accept others & accept ourselves Because that¡s what going to help us grow And direct me & you to us And us to being more human And learn to love if not selfless love.

China, where the world becomes one One of my favorite quotes is one that says, ¡ The purpose of life is a life of purpose¡ and that is exactly what China has bestowed upon me; the purpose driven life. China is the second largest country in the world and the largest in Asia covering an area of 9.6 million meters square. It is bordered by Mongolia to the North, Nepal to the South ¨ West, Kazakhstan to the North ¨ West and Burma to the South. It is one of the most populous countries with a population of 1.3 billion which consists of 56 ethnic groups. The food culture in China especially leaves me in awe at all the diversified dishes that are available that leave majority if not all the foreigners salivating as the aroma of the foods sizzle through the air especially during meal times. The Chinese word for fish is ¡yu¡ which sounds similar to the word for richness or abundance. As a result, Chinese citizens ritualistically eat fish in new years day believing their wishes will come true in the New Year to come. The Chinese people are one of the friendliest people that I have come across. They are also very cultured and polished such that everyone is mandated to use specific etiquette at the dining table. There is an admirable custom of respecting the aged and the guests while taking good care of the children at the table. The best dishes are first presented to the senior members of the family then to the junior members as a sign of respect for the elderly in society for the elders are like a pillar upon which the rest of the society is built. As an international student, one of my favorite co-curricular activities is karate which is one of the best performed martial arts in China. My experience while learning karate has been breath-taking, instilling in me the confidence, discipline and integrity that I need to face in this extremely challenging world. Being in my campus with Chinese and my fellow international students from other countries like Malaysia, Nepal, India, Ghana and Indonesia has helped me to learn a lot about other countries and their customs, beliefs and ways of life. Therefore, we have been able to share ideas and co-exist even though we are from different countries. No matter which country one comes from, there are so many things that one can learn from citizens of other countries. My experiences as an international student in China are my greatest treasure. They have made a positive impact in my life due to living around positive thinkers and people who care so much about other people despite the fact that they are from different backgrounds and countries. Living in this lovely land has taught me to look past everybody¡s inequities, social backgrounds and differences because despite all our differences, one fact still remains; that we are all part of the one and only one human race.
