The Hydrophobic Behavior of Dow Corning Silicone Compounds Despite a complete layer of contamination consisting of calcining dust from Rain Calcining’s own plant and other industrial pollutants from nearby Hygrade, CFL, and the sea just a mile away, Dow Corning 5 Compound has proved itself to be a reliable combat against pollution induced flashover. The average life before recoating is now 18-24 months.

DC 3099 formulated with unique ATH fillers that goes into many Dow Corning high voltage rubber compounds and HVIC coatings, suppresses arc, corona and is resistant to UV degradation. Soft, easy to spread grayish white material enable easy visual inspection of covered area during application.

Sylgard HVIC + even after 9 years in contaminated conditions shows excellent hydrphobicity. The surface when cleaned also shows the original colour of the coating has not changed much.
