„ The greenhouse effect” Dictionary definition says about this phenomenon as the effect of progressive rise in temperature of the earth’s atmosphere. In fact the whole process is not quite simple and straightforward. Most of the solar radiation is filtered through the earth’s atmosphere causing its warming. In consequence of this process infrared radiation is gradually emitted. Greater part of the rays is absorbed by water and carbon dioxide molecules or other gases. Thermal energy is subsequently transferred to the earth’s atmosphere as a reradiation. The reradiation once more heats the earth causing the greenhouse effect. Energy received from the Sun is bigger than that given back by our planet. The most important factor exacerbating the whole situation is growing role of different greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone which magazine thermal energy and send it back to the earth in a form of the infrared radiation. Till man had not polluted environment in such a great scale the main role in absorbing reflected heat performed water-vapour. However the last decade has seen a dramatic rise in the number of other greenhouse gases induced by the human activity.
