The following free concerts are options for your Concert Report Assignment. You are not limited to these suggestions, but remember you must check with Ms. McAdoo before attending the concert. The goal is to have you attend a LIVE concert before December 10. Biddle, director Jazz Ensemble Dave Schiavone, director Sunday, November 22, 2009 7:30 P.M./ MCC Student Event Canisius Chamber Orchestra Ansgarius Aylward, director Saturday, December 5, 2009 7:30 P.M./ MCC Student Event Canisius Chorale Frank Scinta, director Buffalo State October 15th - Jazz Ensemble The Buffalo State College Jazz Ensemble will perform a lively mix of Jazz favorites under the conduction of Ricky Fleming (associate professor of music) at 7 PM. October 16th and October 17th - Conducting Symposium The Buffalo State College Conducting Symposium will be held at 7 PM.

October 25th - High School Honor Band Concert High School honor bands will perform at 4 PM. November 13th - Lois Klein Piano Recital Series Lois Klein will perform as part of the Buffalo State College piano recital series at 7 PM. November 17th - Percussion Ensemble The Buffalo State College Percussion Ensemble will perform at 7 PM. November 18th - Wind Ensemble The Buffalo State College Wind Ensemble will perform at 7 PM. November 20th - Jazz Ensemble The Buffalo State College Jazz Ensemble will perform at 7 PM. November 23rd - Philharmonia Inaugural Concert Community Orchestra The first concert of the new community orchestra, Buffalo State College Philharmonia, will be held under the direction of Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra resident conductor Paul Ferington at 7 PM. It is comprised of Buffalo State College faculty, music majors, non-music majors, area professional musicians, local music educators and community enthusiasts. Concerts with a Fee: Canisius College: Wednesday, October 21/7:30p.m. – The BPO on Campus, under the direction of Matthew Kraemer, BPO associate conductor. The performance will feature Daniel Pendley and Brett Shurtliffe, double bass and include works by Mozart, Bottesini and Beethoven. • Tuesday, November 10/7:30 p.m. – Informally Formal Chamber Concert featuring Amy Glidden, violin; Amelie Fradette, cello and Alison D’Amato, piano. • Tuesday, February 9/7:30 p.m. – Informally Formal Chamber Concert featuring Amy Mattix, oboe and English horn; Paul Ferington, piano; Paul Schlossman, oboe; and Christine Ford, oboe. • Tuesday, April 13/7:30 p.m. – “Beyond the Brute in the Back of the Orchestra,” an Informally Formal Chamber Concert featuring Jeffrey
