Troy names BOE clerk TROY, N.Y. (August 11, 2009) – Mary Beth Bruno was appointed as Clerk of the Board of Education for the Enlarged City School District of Troy, N.Y. at the August 5th Board of Education (BOE) meeting. She replaces Eva Defiglio who retired at the end of the 2008-2009 school year. Prior to joining the district, Bruno spent ten years as Board Coordinator for the Board of Directors of Fleet Financial Group, Inc. She was president of the Parish School Association for Our Lady of Victory School and has also been employed by the Troy City School District as substitute teacher assistant. A board-appointed position, the responsibilities of the BOE Clerk include: supporting Troy’s nine member Board of Education; running the annual school district election; preservation of all BOE records; designation as the records access officer for FOIL requests; arranging the publication of legal notices and acting as a notary public. “We are very excited and happy to have Ms. Bruno as our board clerk, said Tom Mayo,” BOE president. “This is a key position in the district and we look forward to a long and productive working relationship.” Bruno holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University at Albany and is a member of the Junior League of Troy. She lives in Brunswick with her two daughters.
