Anderson 1 Brian Anderson Mr. Summers English 10H02 30 August 2009 Jefferson’s Rhetoric The Declaration of Independence is a brilliant work, containing the author’s perfect logical structure and precise tone, denunciating the strict British government; from introduction to closing, Thomas Jefferson fills this document both metaphors and rhetorical strategies to enhance its lustrous literary reputation even through the cadences; he demonstrates the immediate need of the Thirteen Colonies to separate from British control through several maxims that demonstrated the charges and unlawful actions against Britain; because of his dramatic appeal for freedom and justice, Thomas Jefferson’s content matches his goals for young America, thus enhancing both his form and law incorporated style, making it the most important document in all of American history. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence to denunciate Britain’s harsh rule over her colonies; however, because of his perfect form, particularly rhetorical style, and extremely dramatic appeal for the freedom of America. Through his use of metaphors, rhetorical strategies, and legal tone, Jefferson’s demonstrated the practical charges against the British government.
