B.A. (Hons) Visual Communication
Module: Investigation and Practice 1 Module Code: VC 202-860-05 (20 credits) Lecturer: Katherine Szeto + Marta Kusztra
Assignment 1:
Date: 10/01/2007 or 11/01/2007
The Day After Tomorrow
Introduction:
Think 2010. Think 2020. Think further than that. Will graphic design be different than now? What change do you expect? What role graphic designers will play? What issues (social, cultural, economic, political, technological) we will be dealing with?
Brief:
Define (by brainstorming) the issues that, in your opinion, graphic designers will have to address in the future. Pick up one that you find particularly vital, interesting, enforcing change. Support your choice with an extensive research and analysis. Your research cannot be based only on the internet sources. Prepare design that will inform the design community around the world (i.e. designers, artists, art/design students, design forums or design media…) about this future issue and the change to come. Your design can take any form you choose. For example, you may choose to design a publication, a flyer in design magazine, an exhibition, even a design competition. Your project will be evaluated on how far can you go in your brainstorming, how deep you can research your issue and how well you can present it to your audience.
