Commemoration of the 19th Anniversary of 1990 Election Victory You are cordially invited to the 19th anniversary of 1990 election victory.
The citizens of Burma voted in 1990 for the National League for Democracy (NLD) led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and its alliance, the United Nationalities League for Democracy, comprising of ethnic parties and won in a landslide victory. The current military regime, the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC), has consistently ignored the 1990 election results. Moreover, SPDC is intent on holding an election in 2010 to prolong militarism in Burma. Burmese democracy forces across the globe firmly believe that only a political solution based on 1990 election results can bring about genuine democracy in our motherland. Based on this firm belief, we will commemorate the 19th anniversary of 1990 election victory in San Francisco Bay Area.
