The Character of a Colony

You are going to be responsible for envisioning a colony come to life… as a human.

Your job is to first research the colony: its history, why it was founded and by whom, what were its geography/natural resources like, what are the major early “industries”, early government, labor systems, Native American policies, religion, etc.

Next, your job is to get creative. First, what would the colony look like, if it was human? Given its history, what would its face look like, what kind of clothing would it wear, what would its gender be? How would the colony behave? How would it treat other colonies?

Your job is to demonstrate to us the character of this colony in some creative fashion. In approximately one typed page, you will explain the factual research behind your project and how it relates to the characteristics you have given to it.

A works cited page will be necessary, using MLA format. As is true of all projects in Ms. Roy’s class, if you have any need for computer resources (projector, laptop, etc), you need to email me your request at least a class period in advance. Any powerpoints are due to Ms. Roy’s email at least 24 hours in advance of your class period.
