“What’s the Best Thing in Life?” D A G/B D G G/A D Some say the best things in life are free, but I don’t believe that is true D D/C# G/B D They say, “You can have free love, you can have a free phone, G D/F# G A And you just aint livin’ ‘till you’re growin’ your own” G A D But all I can say is “Whatever” G A D ‘Cause I know everything has a cost G A D/F# G Em7 D/F# G A It took us some effort to get so messed up, and it won’t be so easy to bring back the lost G A D So again I’ll just say “Whatever” G G/A D Whatever happened to a goal worth reaching for? G A D And whatever happened to a cause worth dying for? G D/F# G D And whatever happened to a faith I could feel? G D/F# G A And whatever happened to a God who is real? G D A D A D G A Wouldn’t it be great if the God of the universe could know me and love me in spite of myself G D A D And wouldn’t it be great if He came to earth to show us how A Bm7 To share His love right here, right now G D/F# G A And we could join in His purpose, His promise, His plan G D/F# G A Well He does and He did and we should and we can G A D D/F# G A D If we simply believe that He is the only way, and that is a goal worth reaching for G A D/F# G Em7 D/F# Asus A And we simply believe that He is the only truth, and that is a cause worth dying for G A D/F# G And we simply believe that He is the only life Em7 D/F# G D/F# And that’s a faith I can feel and He’s a God who is real Em7 D/F# G D/F# G D A A God I can know and a God I can serve and a God I can love for eternity G A D G A Bm Bm/A G A D And that’s the best thing in life to me.
