Maspeth Elementary Morning Enrichment Program – SPRING SESSION 1. Time 7:30 AM to 8:15 AM 2. Courses start the week of April 8th through the week of June 7th – you will receive notification 3. No Class when school is closed 4. Classes are limited Title: Stock Market Game Teacher: Mr. Marc Bloom Grades: 4 – 6 Day: Wednesday Reg. Max.: 20 Description: The Stock Market Game is a fun introduction for students to gain valuable lessons on how to make money researching and trading stocks on the computer and understanding the basics of finance and economics. Each participant will be given an online trading account and a starting balance of $100,000 of “play money” to compete against students throughout the city to see who can make the most money through investing in different companies. Title: Yoga Club Teacher: Ms. Kelly Sweeny Grade: 4-6 Day: Tuesday Reg. Max: 12 Description: Stress doesn’t just affect grownups…kids get stressed too. Yoga and mindfulness practices can help kids learn to focus, reduce stress, have self-control over their emotions, and develop a positive outlook on life. We will practice breathing techniques, yoga postures, and mindfulness techniques. Title: Gardening Club Teacher: Ms. Ballester Grade: 3-6 Day: Wednesday Reg. Max: 18 Description: Help plan, plot, and plant our new school garden! You will get to choose some of the plants we choose to grow based on research, use math skills to map out where each plant will go, start the seeds indoors, and paint signs for the garden beds. Join me in making our school a more beautiful, green place to grow and learn! Title: Visual Arts Instructor: Ms. Lisa Falco Grades: 2 & 3 Day: Monday Reg. Max: 18 Description: Visual Arts takes inspiration from contemporary artists, their themes, and use of materials and techniques; including drawing, painting, 3D construction, printmaking, and collage. Children explore artists through simple and fun lessons that 2018-2019 Instructional Focus: To use data systems to identify students’ needs and strengths, and shift instruction to ensure the needs of all learners are being met, with an emphasis on small group instruction based on summative and formative assessments.

Children will then use similar techniques to develop their own projects. Title: Visual Arts Instructor: Ms. Lisa Falco Grades: 4 & 5 Day: Friday Reg.
