Auscultate subclavian a. post to clavicle b. Auscultate carotid artery c. Bilaterally 4 times d. Listen for Bruey’s i. Could indicate atherosclerosis ii. Come up with a Bruey and the test is done iii. Note the Bruey and whether they were in the other 3 arteries 1. VBAI 2. Possible Bruey in L Subclavian, none in the R Subclavian, L Carotid, R Carotid 3. Indicative of possible Bruey, suggest atherosclerosis e. Maigne’s Position i. Head Rotated & Extended to the ipsilateral side ii. Give point to focus on for approximately 30 seconds iii. Ask if there is any dizziness or nausea iv. Symptoms of VBAI (5 Ds & 3 Ns) 1. Dizziness 2. Disartheria 3. Disphagia 4. Diplopia 5. Drop Attack 6. Nausea 7. Nystagmus (twitching in the same way) 8. Numbness
