Summary At Presence TeleCare, we have worked hard to collect a vast array of academic and institutional research on speech language pathology and telepractice methods. Our resources point us to one alarming conclusion: the shortage of SLPs in school systems today threatens the basic education of our children. This educational crisis is a challenging one to contend with, but new advances in videoconferencing technology provide us with hope---Presence TeleCare has developed a user-friendly, web-based platform that allows SLPs to easily connect with students, linking them to a brighter future. The telepractice technology that we use is based on numerous success stories that suggest internet-based telemedicine is as effective as traditional faceto-face therapy. We hope that you are curious to learn more about the next generation of therapy delivery. That’s why we provide you with the following resources on telepractice, ranging from its history and background to more recent patient case studies and pilot programs: Background Information Janet Brown on the Next Generation of Telepractice Presentation at the TSHA Annual Convention Janet Brown, MA CCC-SLP April 2, 2009 Telehealth in the Community: A Research Update An Article in Home Health Care Management & Practice Judith A.
