All Team Captains are kindly invited to attend this important meeting. Teams without a Team Captain please send one of your archers to the Team Captains Meeting. Please read this booklet upon receipt and take it with you to the Team Captains Meeting.

Dear Team Captains Welcome in Saignes and Champagnac at the 18th Field Archery European Championships and 6th Junior Field Archery European Championships. In this information, which has been published in advance on the EC-Field-website, we want to give you already some advance information for the Team Captains meeting to be held at the central area near the competition-courses (Saignes – Currière) on Monday 17th of August, at 13.30 hrs. The Organising Committee has done its best to prepare these Field Archery European Championships in a very good way and we are sure we will have well organised and good Championships. Please do not hesitate to make comments and provide feed-back on the event to EMAUofficials, as well as to the Organisers, as your input will help EMAU to plan even better events in future. The target assignment list will be handed out, latest during the Team Captains’ meeting.

Accreditation Accreditation will take place at the central area near the competition area in Saignes. Accreditation cards must be worn at all times in the practice and competition areas. During accreditation the Team Captains are requested to give their mobile telephone numbers to the OC.

Ceremonies The Opening Ceremony will take place at the main square in Saignes. For transport see the schedule in the hotels. The Team Captains should designate a member of his/her Team to carry the Member’s Nation Flag. Teams with own transport should be present at the square at the latest at 16.30 hrs. The Award-, Medal- and Closing ceremony will take place after the finals at Champagnac at the competition field as per the preliminary Program. Closingparty will take place at “Centre Socio-Culturel” de Ydes and will start at 20:00 hrs. Included in the price of Euro 30 € is free buffet, one drink, danse party. The OC will decide if special cards are being printed or stickers will be handed out through the Team Captains, to be put on the accreditation card, in order to give access to the banquet/party. For transport see the schedule in the hotels.

Total of 153 participants and 18 participating countries Based on the numbers in each category in the General Class, the European Championships will continue after the 2 Qualification Rounds, with the 1st Elimination Round with 16 participants. As per to-day’s entries, in the Junior classes there will be Semifinals/Finals after the Qualification Rounds for all categories, with the exception of the Junior Women recurve. No European-Championship and -Medals for Junior Women Recurve will be held, the OC will hand out medals as per the ranking after the 2 Qualification rounds. Teams’ event 7 Women Teams 9 Men Teams There will be no European Championship in Junior Teams. It is not possible that a Junior who competed in the Junior Field Championships, competes later in the Senior Team event.

Departure of the delegations

Please note that these times are preliminary and are subject to change 5/8

Entrance into the courses is only allowed for competitors, judges and field crew. The Team Captains, as usual, are not allowed to enter the courses, except in case of emergency and upon request by the Chairman of the Tournament Judge Commission. Some targets can be viewed from the normal public road. No mobile telephones or cameras can be taken by the athlete onto the competition field. The Team Captains must give the names of the athletes in the Team Competition latest Thursday 20th of August, 17.00 hrs.

Storage of equipment at the competition area Secured storage of bow cases and spare equipment during the competition is available at the competition area, easily accessible by the Team Captains. Team Captains please be aware of where the equipment of your Team is stored, so in case you need to bring in spare equipment you can easily find it.

“Lost and found” area, noticeboards will be in the competition area and in the hotels and will show the resultlists in the evening and startinglist in the morning.

Equipment-Inspection All shooting-equipment, including spare equipment should be brought to the equipment inspection. All Team Members should wear their Team Uniform at the Equipment Inspection. Athletes, officials and staff should have a proper appearance. For the semifinals and finals it is required that the name of the athlete participating, is printed on the back of the shirt. If necessary this printing can be done through a computer at the central competition area. The backnumbers of the athletes will be handed out at the Equipment Inspection at the latest and must be worn by the athletes as long as they are in the competition in such a way that the number is easy recognisable (quiver, thigh) The Team Captains are requested to double check during the equipment inspection that each archer has the correct registration number and the right spelling of the athletes’ name, as well as the correct date of birth in the archers’ list (Juniors!) During the Equipment inspection also a copy of the scorecard to be used will be shown. There will be double scoring. Please ask your athletes to completely fill out and sign the scorecards before handing them in at the end of the day (or after each round). The two sets of scorecards must be handed in together and they will not be accepted when they are not completely filled out: total score, 6’s and 5’s, signatures. Please also note that the scorecards will not be checked by the OC. If there are different scores for one athlete, automatically the lowest scores will be entered into the result list. Also please ask your athletes to mark the holes! During the competition also electronic scoring is planned. During the equipment inspection the use of the system will be explained. 6/8

Courses There will be 2 Qualification Courses and 2 Elimination Courses in Saignes. The semi-finals and finals will take place in Champagnac. A warming up field (=practicefield) will be next to the Qualification Courses. The courses are in a not too heavy going area, but please ask your athletes nevertheless to wear proper footwear.

Mailboxes are only on the field. Lunches - Water Ordered lunches will be handed out each day on the competition field shortly before or during the warm up. On Friday and Saturday next to the finals’ field. Water will be handed out at the competition area before the competition in Saignes. The athletes should take as much as they think they need during the competition-day, before going into the courses. Some “watering”-points are being planned on the competition areas. The placements within the courses will be announced during the Team Captains meeting. On Friday and Saturday water will be available at the finals’ field in Champagnac.

Smoking The competition is a smoke free event; smoking is not allowed in the competition and training areas. Those found smoking where not permitted, will be warned by a written note on the scorecard and at the next warning they could be disqualified.

Littering Please ask your athletes to bring back from the courses, their own litter. We also have to take care of the environmental aspect of our Championships

Toilets There are toilets near the warming-up area and also some “natural” toilets on the courses. Positions in the courses will be announced during the Team Captains meeting.

Health – Ticks - insects The French Organisers do not foresee any problems in view of ticks and other insects. It might, however, be good when your athletes bring some anti-repellant with them.

Doping Control Doping control will follow FITA resp. Rules. Your athletes should bring their passports or accreditation card to the doping control station when they will be chosen for a test. Alcohol testing : Level of alcohol might also be tested during the competition, following FITA Rules.

Appeal - Procedure The appeal Form is attached to this document. In case of an Intent to Appeal or a real Appeal, the regulations indicated on the Appeal form attached must be considered. The Appeal form should be given to the Chairman of the Tournament Judge Commission or to his deputy. A deposit of Euro 50€ must be paid to the EMAU TD or to the Chairman of the Tournament Judge Commission, for the Appeal to be valid. When the Appeal is accepted by the Jury of Appeal, the money will be returned. In case of non-acceptance of the Appeal, the money is not returned.
