I have prepared many lesson plans for my college classes. I have only preformed one. This was in a Kindergarten class. It was around Thanksgiving and the focus of the lesson was understanding and identifying sight words. I told the students a story and showed the story on the Smart Board and asked the students to, come up when called upon, and circle any sight words they saw in the story. After this activity, I transitioned to another activity where the students worked in groups and wrote down the sight words that I had written on a cutout of a leaf. Once the students were finished, we read a story and I asked the students to do a certain motion when they heard a sight word in the story. I ended the lesson with the students doing a color by sight word worksheet. The students were engaged and paying attention during the whole lesson. I like to keep my lessons at a good pace so students to not get bored, but do not feel rushed. I had all the activities prepared before the lesson and stayed energetic throughout the lesson.
