STEEL SCAFFOLDING
Hanoi - 1995
FOREWORD TCVN 6052: 1995 was prepared by the TCVN/TC5 Standard Technical Department –upon the request of The General Directorate of Measurement and Quality, promulgated by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.
VIETNAM STANDARD

STEEL SCAFFOLDING
1. Scope This standard applies to steel scaffolding commonly used in executing, repairing and completing construction works. 2. Structure, parameters and basic dimension 2.1 Structure of a steel scaffolding must comply with stipulations in Figure 1.
1. Adjust screw 4. Connect pipe 7. Clock
2. Tie plate 5. Cross pipe
3. Vertical frame 6. Working floor
TCVN 6052: 1995 2.2 Basis dimensions and parameters of steel scaffolding provided in table 1 and Figure 2

Note 1. It’s permit to design a steel scaffolding with parameters and dimensions differ from stipulations provided in Table 1 if requested; 2. Selection of dimensions B, L, L is upon specific requests. 3. Technical requirements 3.1 Bold, screw nut, pipe clock must be made by steel CT51, TCVN 1765-85 Pipe must be made by steel CT38, TCVN 1765-85 Note - It’s permit to replace by other equivalent materials
3.2 Tolerance of pipe used for making steel scaffolding = ± 0.5mm. Flexure of steel must not exceed 1mm/1000mm per pipe length. 3.3 Outside surface of pipe must be free from any traces with depth >1mm. Total dimension of traces per 1mm length must not exceed 100mm2. Within 120mm length at ends of standing pipe must have no trace with depth >0.5mm. 3.4 Welds of pipe edge [If use of any welded pipe] must be even, solid, firm and free from any burn, damage, hole. In cool repair of weld, it’s permitted the weld part higher than the outside surface of pipe to 1mm and lower than the outside surface of pipe to 0.2mm. 3.5 Ends of pipe after processed must be smooth and its hole oblique = 0.5 x 450. 3.6 Parts of clock connecting the cross bar on the standing pipe must ensure the sensitivity, convenience when working and safety for assembling joints. 3.7 Locks of the tie plates must be easy for assembling and ensure the plate will not be removed from the horizontal pipe. 3.8 Steel scaffolding must ensure solid enough and warrant testing load as provided in Article 4.5 of this Standard. 3.9 Standards of the steel scaffolding manufactured within the same factory at similar dimensions and parameters must be easy replaceable when install for use. 3.10 Steel scaffolding must be color painted. Color layer must be held firmly and covered smoothly over all items. 4. Testing method 4.1 Quality of materials used for manufacturing the steel scaffolding is checked by determining input materials of the factory. In case the materials can not be determined, it’s to make a mechanical testing for these ones. 4.2 Check the outside quality of all steel scaffolding items by naked eyes. 4.3 Check all geometric dimensions, tolerance and difference of geometric dimensions by specialized measurement tools with the exactness to 0.1mm. 4.4 Check the operation of all locks.
4.5 Procedures for hardness test will be done as follow: Randomly assembly any 2 steel scaffoldings [Include 3 standing frames, 4 pairs of cross bars and 2 tie plates] and connecting into one floor. Gradually load to 3000N on overall the surface of floor in 4 hours. After the test, no item of the steel scaffolding is allowed from any damage, deformation compared with stipulations provided in Article 3.2 - 3.9 of this standard. After the loading test, if not qualified, repeat another time with other 2 different steel scaffoldings. Testing load = 4000N and testing time = 4 hours. Result from the 2nd test will be final. 4.6 Check the replaceable ability when assembling of scaffolding items by taking items enough for assembling 4 steel scaffoldings in 2 floors [Two upper floors and 2 lower floors]. All items must ensure replaceable ability. 5. Packing, labeling, transportation and maintenance 5.1 All items of steel scaffolding are packed by disassembling, arranged into catalogue and firmly tied by wire. Small items are packed in wood box. Weight of each packing unit should comply with the factory and customer. 5.2 Standing frame of each steel scaffolding must be transparently described: -
Name of manufacturer; Product signal; Net weight.
5.3 Manufacturing factory must have the unpainted surface and lace surface well anti-rust lubricated and maintain steel scaffolding in dry with roof and far from corrosive environment.
