Teaneck Community Band Dear Prospective Band Member: For 73 years musicians from our area have joined together each summer to create the Teaneck Community Band. If you are willing to learn a full concert of music in one rehearsal each week and if you will enjoy performing with over 100 musicians of all ages, the 74th season of the Teaneck Community Band will, once again, be ready with another challenging and exciting season. We will be presenting, as usual, five concerts this summer. Our first concert will be on Tuesday evening, July 3. Concerts will then return to our customary Wednesday evenings, July 11, 18, 25 and August 1. Concerts are at 8:00 PM at the Band Shell in Votee Park in Teaneck. Our regular rehearsal evenings will remain on Mondays at 7:30 PM prior to each concert - July 2, 9. 16, 23 and 30. Two “preseason” rehearsals are scheduled for Monday, June 25 and Wednesday, June 27, at 7:30 PM. This year rehearsals will rotate back to Benjamin Franklin Middle School. We are, as usual, planning an ambitious season and we must know your availability. Please indicate on the response form the dates that you will be able to participate. Membership for only part of the season is acceptable but since there is only one rehearsal for each concert, we ask that you attend that week’s rehearsal if you intend to play on the concert. Membership will be accepted for those who can participate in at least two concerts. Please make every effort to attend the “preseason” rehearsals. The preparation that we do in those two rehearsals will be important for the entire season. This summer, we plan to use the TCB polo shirts that we purchased four years ago to commemorate our 70th anniversary. For those of you who participated last year, hopefully you managed to retain them so they may be used once again. On the response form, indicate whether you need a shirt this summer and what size you prefer. Each year our band seems to grow in both membership and ability. To continue this growth we need to continue to recruit qualified members. Please assist by “spreading the word” and helping us to welcome new performers to the thousands of musicians who have played with the Teaneck Community Band over the years.
