SYNOPSIS ON SMART CARD ATTENDANCE SYSTEM SUBMITTED BY: RAKESH DUBEY SITM,REWARI

INTRODUCTION SMART CARD ATTENDANCE SYSTEM: Smart card system is a system used in big companies and big institutes for the attendance of their employees and workers. This system is very important part of different organizations. This system replaced the old tradition of register attendance system in which a person takes the attendance of employees, those old systems were not too much accurate and could be changed and corrupted but now a day this modern system, smart card attendance system is very much accurate and does not require any person for care. This system totally based on microcontrollers which provide this a proper functioning. Mostly all the companies that may be national or international use this attendance system. Companies provide a special card called as smart card, to their employees to enter their presence daily.

SPECIAL IDEA USED: In this modern time, all the people are busy and haven’t more time. A smart card attendance system is a device to minimize the time and employees and workers can easy to enter their presence daily. Smart card attendance system is a device in which smart card is insert in the system by which a code is generated and at that code which employees and workers is assigned, it attendance will be done and “accepted attendance” shown on the LCD.

MICROCONTROLLER Microcontroller is a general purpose device meant to read data, to perform limited calculation on that data and to control it’s environment based on those calculations. The prime use of a microcontroller is to control the operation of a machine using a fixed program that is stored in rom and that does not change over the life time of the system. Microcontroller is a true computer on a chip. It incorporates all the features found in a microprocessor like CPU, ALU, PC, SP and registers. It also has additional features needed to make a complete computer like ROM, RAM, parallel I/O, serial I/O, counters and a clock circuit.

Microcontroller based system are generally smaller, more reliable, and cheaper. A microcontroller is a single computer chip that execute a user program, normally for the purpose of controlling some device hence named as microcontroller.

FEATURES 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

Works in a time constrained environment. Provides high performance and reliability. Storage capacity of smart card is 512MB and up. More flexible. Low power consumption. Easy to use. Smart card remembers new information and capable of calculations.

OBJECTIVE The objective is that design a system which takes less time of processing and capable to store all the attendance i.e. calculations of all the employees and workers. There are many applications at different place. These are: 1. National and international companies. 2. Big institutes. 3. Other where many employees and workers worked.

HARDWARE DISCRIPTION: Smart card attendance system builds on a PCB by using 8051 microcontroller. A capacitor of electrolyte c1 with 5v connected with reset pin of microcontroller with a resistance r1. A 16*2 LCD connected to the port0 with register bank because port0 does not pull up internally like port2, 3, 4 so that it need to pull up externally. Enable and Register select is connected to p1.0 & p1.1.

There are three opto-coupler are connected to the p2.7, p2.6, p2.5 of the microcontroller. In the opto-coupler, there is one LED and one PHOTOTRASISTER are placed parallel to each other with no electrically connected. When LED ON, they emit light and this light is taken as input by the phototransistor and transistor is on.
