Symbolism-the types of sins people committed Sowers of Discord- hackers of relationships *People who tore apart others relationships The Falsifiers- corrupters of society by lies, or falsifications *People who told lies and things that weren’t true Beast of Oppression-Leopard- malice and fraud *A sneaky/camouflage type of animal Dante- every man *People in general and how we categorize others in put them in social classes Virgil- human reason * Virgil represents a guardian angel as he and Dante travel through hell

Symbolic Retribution- the exact punishment of the sins people committed while on earth Sowers of Discord- hacked and torn by demons with swords, then walk dragging their broken bodies until they reach the beginning of the line once again only to be hacked The Falsifiers- punished with every type of affliction, some running tearing others to pieces Beast of Oppression-Leopards provide for themselves so their reward would be their food and survival Dante- going through hell where he put everybody that he thought did wrong in different circles according to their sin Virgil- kind of represents Dante’s guardian angel, protecting him as they travel through hell
