38 Key Contacts A small seed was sown on 17th March 1977 Ugadi, Telugu New Year Day has grown and developed into a tall tree with several branches in the form of several service units and institutions in Secunderabad, Tandur, Kadapa and Guntur. We began as a school for mentally handicapped children in a garage and as a part of my clinic remises with 2 staff and 5 children. 31 years of dedicated service started by a group of different professionals joining together with a commitment and belief that these persons with disability are victims of fate, they should not be victims of our neglect. This lead to the birth of SUAS,(An energizing breath in Sanskrit ) Sweekaar and three sister organizations viz., Upkaar, Aashray and Suraksha. SUAS (Sweekaar, Upkaar, Aashray and Suraksha) is not only a reservoir for delivering service to the disabled (Running 29 Service Units),but also have become centre for learning and manpower development for the rehabilitation of the disabled.SUAS conducts 21 training programs ranging from Diploma, Degree, PG, Post PG, Ph.D and another 11 programs are under process under the umbrella of SARS( Sweekaar Academy of Rehabilitation Sciences. SUAS is an oasis with a service motto “Rehabilitation from Womb to Tomb”. We care for individuals with Mental, Physical, Visual and Hearing Handicap. In addition, we also serve children with Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, Learning Disorders, High Risk Babies, Children with Developmental Delay, Individuals with Speech Disorders, Adult Mentally Handicapped (Rural Project), Drug Addicts, Home for the Aged and Artificial Limbs for the Physically Handicapped. Several awards were bestowed on Sweekaar recognizing our commitment to the quality of Service Delivery, Training, Awareness creation, Advocacy, Community participation programmes. Our Strength is our Infrastructure. We have buildings located all over the state with modern equipment, library with latest books and journals and exceptional variety of case load which is a boon for training the students. I personally and the governing body members and all the members of the Sweekaar

pariwaar express our profound gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all those who made our dreams come true. We thank all the staff members who had worked and are working with us. We salute all the Donors, Well Wishers, Govt. Officials, A.P. State Council of Higher Education, Osmania University, Bhoj University, S.V. University, JNTU and Nagarjuna University. Our special thanks go to the parents of the disabled children for reposing unstinted confidence in us, whose support has enthused us, propelled our energies to go forward in spite of insurmountable difficulties encountered financially and otherwise in our path to our cherished dreams. All our well wishers and donors are our hope and our strength. Everyone can join our mission. This is God’s work. One must realize there is a very very thin line between the abled and the disabled. It takes a few seconds to cross the fence. Let us give back to the society more than what we receive. The more you give the more you get. Share the joy to get your joy multiplied. Your support will help us to reach the unreached, to care the uncared disabled population of our society.
