Bishop Flaget Schools Supply List Things to consider: We would prefer that pencils be wooden pencils without a plastic covering. Plastic and plastic covered pencils wreak havoc on our pencil sharpeners. Mechanical pencils are acceptable in grades 58, but wooden pencils are preferred at the lower levels. *Please no book bags on wheels!!! They will not fit into the lockers and are a tripping hazard. Please bring all supplies by August 26th , 2009. (You may also bring supplies to the Open House on August 24th .) Supplies should be labeled with your child's name. Please note that you will need to replenish your child’s supplies throughout the school year as they use them, and your child’s teacher may request additional supplies throughout the year. In the junior high, individual teachers may ask for additional supplies for various subjects, such as binders, etc. This will be communicated to you at a later date. We do recommend an organizer that enables your junior high student to organize their papers and homework. Expandable files and other similar carriers with individual compartments for various subjects would be helpful. Please be aware that some binders (such as Trapper Keepers) will not fit into the lockers and can cause locker jams. Please keep this in mind when shopping for school supplies. If you have questions, please feel free to email your child’s teacher or ask at the open house.

One final note on uniforms: Blue Jumpers are not approved to be worn at Bishop Flaget. Girls may wear the plaid jumpers, but students are only permitted to wear blue pants and skirts (shorts and skorts in September and May). There was some confusion about this in the spring. Also, no “wild” leggings should be worn. Girls may wear solid color tights (blue, white, black, flesh tone). All hose worn under skirts should have feet in them…unless they are being worn at recess only during the cold months. Sweatshirts should be gray, Bishop Flaget sweatshirts. No other colors of sweatshirts are permitted. Sweaters may be worn in blue or white only. Belts must be brown, black, blue, or plaid and must be worn in all grades 1-8. Hair accessories should also be in line with the dress code. Red, pink, tie-dye, etc. headbands are not permitted. Tennis shoes should be white, black, blue, or a combination. We realize that this is difficult with the current styles, but shoes in neon pink, wild colors, skull & crossbone, etc., are not permitted. Thank you for your assistance in this.
