SUPER BOWL
BOYCOTT OF PALM BEACH HOTELS, RESTAURANTS & BUSINESSES
Coral reef advocates from around the world have sent nearly 1,100 emails to the Town of Palm Beach asking them to withdraw their objections to federal critical habitat protections for ESA listed staghorn coral. Some letters from as far away as Australia, with many promising a boycott of Palm Beach hotels, restaurants and businesses. The Town of Palm Beach insists the federal coral reef protections will interfere with their beach renourishment projects. The National Marine Fisheries Service is in the process of reviewing a petition filed by Palm Beach County Reef Rescue to include all of the Town of Palm Beach offshore waters into the federal critical habitat designated area. If you care about where your tourism dollars are spent consider the Town of Palm Beach is the only municipality in Florida that opposes the same federal coral habitat protections that already exist along the rest of the 330 mile long Florida Reef Tract.
