Summits Africa is the first tour operator in East Africa to offer Carbon neutral climbs and buy carbon credits for in-country safari days. We are turning our clients' CO2 emissions into natural forest. This precedent sets ecotourism in East Africa in a positive motion for years to come, by helping minimize visitors’ carbon footprint from things such as vehicles, electricity, and propane cookers on the mountain. Tour operators, lodges and camps are encouraged to use renewable energy sources like solar panels, renewable methods for heating water and irrigation, and to source food and employ locally. Little steps such as these will help conserve important ecological systems like Mt Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro Crater, and the Serengeti.
