It is best to perform the Mundan during Uttarayan months, which means the months after Sun Uttarayan are considered to be the best time for performing Mundan. The time from 14 January to 15 July is auspicious for Mundan. There are 27 Nakshatra in total. Among them, the best suited for Mundan are Jyeshtha, Mrigashira, Revati, Chitra, Hasta, Ashwini, Pushya, Swati, Punarvasu, Shravana, Dhanishta and Satabhisha. The position of the Moon is important while determining the Muhurat for Mundan. Therefore, the birth chart of the child should be thoroughly studied and If Moon is situated in 4th, 8th, 12th or in any other house that is not benefic for it, Mundan should not be performed.
