Stratification and Differentiation – Social Trends
LO: To understand the main social trends in the UK and how they relate to class. TASK: 1. Log onto the MAC. 2. Open Comic Life (bottom toolbar or in Programmes) 3. You have to create a comic strip that shows you have investigated the sources on the source sheet. Include the following things: Complete d? What has happened to income and GDP over the past 35 years? The difference between what men and women earn and which age group earns the most. Who owns the most wealth? What is happening to child poverty? (Refer to source C and E) What connections are there between ethnic group and the middle classes (professionals)? (Source F) Use at least three statistics (from this sheet or from the internet) to write a general conclusion about how class has changed in the UK based on what you have found.

When you have finished this enter ‘social trends’ in to the Google search engine and go to National Statistics online. Open ‘Social Trends 37 full report’. Choose one other aspect of social trends and use three statistics from the data to write a paragraph about this social trend at the end of your comic life page.
Social Trends Source Sheet: Source A: Gross Domestic Product = the total number of goods and services produced in a country.
Source B: This shows how much men and women earn depending on their age (age at bottom).
